Homemade Popsicles (3 Ways!)

Homemade Popsicles are the perfect summer treat to make at home! All you need are simple ingredients like frozen fruit and juice to make these frozen treats. No popsicle molds? No problem. Dixie cups & popsicle sticks do the trick! You’ll be enjoying an ice-cold popsicle by the pool in no time.

Equipment

  • 12 dixie cups per flavor
  • 12 popsicle sticks per flavor

Ingredients

Mango Limeade Popsicles

  • 2 cups limeade
  • 4 and 1/2 cups frozen mango chunks 520 grams
  • 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk optional, but adds creaminess and a hint of sweetness

Blueberry Lemonade Popsicles

  • 2 and 1/4 cups lemonade
  • 4 and 1/2 cups frozen blueberries 530 grams
  • 3 tbsp sweetened condensed milk Optional, but adds creaminess and a hint of sweetness

Cherry Limeade Popsicles

  • 2 cups limeade
  • 4 and 1/2 cups frozen dark sweet cherries 472 grams
  • 1/2 cup cream of coconut Optional, but adds creaminess and a hint of sweetness. Pairs perfectly with cherry & lime!

Optional

  • some lemon and/or lime slices, for holding popsicle sticks in place

Instructions

  • Blend Popsicles: Add ingredients for your flavor of choice to a high-powered blender, and blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Freeze: Place 12 dixie cups on a cookie sheet, and divide mixture between the cups. Cut a slit in the citrus slices, if using, and slide onto popsicle sticks to cap off your popsicle and keep the stick in place. Freeze until solid.
  • Serve & Store: Enjoy popsicles once frozen. To un-mold, run the end of the mold or dixie cup under hot water for a few seconds to loosen. Gently pull and twist on the stick to release - squeezing the bottom of the cup helps too.

Notes

Flavor Variations: See flavor variation ideas in the blog post above. Swap in whatever fruits and juices you like, keeping the quantities the same as in the recipe above. You'll notice the blueberry lemonade popsicles have 1/4 cup extra liquid than the other two recipes. I felt it needed the extra for the lemonade flavor to come through. If in doubt, start with 2 cups of liquid and add more as needed to help blend, or to taste. If using two types of fruit, use 2 and 1/4 cups of each, and so on.
Yield: As stated above, each flavor makes 12 popsicles. So, you'd have 36 popsicles if you make all 3 flavors.
Nutrition: Nutrition info is for 1 mango popsicle. I think each flavor will have similar info.
