Hello, friends! Time for another Sunday Coffee Break post! This week we’re talking donuts, sneak peaks of upcoming recipes, and more!!
Weekly Recipe Recap
Here’s a quick recap of the recipes I shared on my blog this past week!
- One-Bowl Raspberry Lemon Bread – A super springy bread that I made on a very not-springy, snowy day. You guys must be making this recipe because the snow is melting and I think spring is finally here!!
- A Better Way to Make Grilled Cheese + The Best Tomato Soup Ever – In this post I did something a little different! I shared my tips for perfect grilled cheese in the oven, and I shared a recipe from an amazing new cookbook, The Pretty Dish
by Jessica Merchant of the blog How Sweet Eats! Y’all need to make this soup and check out this cookbook!
- 5-Minute Breakfast Parfaits with Honey, Granola, and Fruit – Remember when I shared my homemade maple granola recipe? Well, I took it a step further and used it to make these quick and delicious breakfast parfaits! Bust your breakfast rut with these babies!
Weekly Favorites + Tidbits
Sadly, there can’t be a vacation every week so I have no vacation recap this time! But, I think we have finally seen the last of the snow! (Watch me eat those words, haha!) The forecast in Madison is 60s and sunny for the week ahead – hooray! The snow is melting and there is GREEN – yes, GREEN grass underneath! Hopefully next year, there will be no Easter egg-decorated bush, surrounded by snow! But, ya never know with Wisconsin weather.
We splurged a little this week and got Hurt’s Donuts (TWICE – eek!).
We had a stay-in date night and watched the movie Coco – spoiler – it is SO SO SO good – and enjoyed some over-the-top donuts!
It’s kind of fun to find “trendy food” like this in Madison! Usually the Instagram-trendy food you see on the internet can only be found in the really big cities like NYC and L.A. But, we have our own little slice of instagram-worthy-food here in Wisconsin. What’s your favorite type/flavor donut?? Mine has always been, and will always be a classic Bavarian creme-filled donut with chocolate glaze! I did have one of those, but I ate it too fast to get a picture ?.
Grant and I did a little thrifting this week and found some, erm, lovely home decor options (pictured below). Alas, we did not bring them home with us.
We did a little grocery shopping (super exciting, I know) and I resisted the temptation to buy some of those super thick, delicious, and overly-sugary frosted cookies. You know the ones I’m talking about! They come in countless different colors and are always there, in the grocery store, taunting you. I’m tempted to come up with a DIY recipe for these – would y’all want a recipe like that?? Let me know ?.
Speaking of temptations – I’m a little obsessed with face masks at the moment, and we accidentally walked into this store at the mall the other day. By some miracle, I made it out without buying anything!
I’m thinking of doing a skincare/makeup favorites post, maybe once every few months – let me know if you would want to see that or not! If not, I won’t be offended ?.
I’m also working on a cookbook recommendations post! Hopefully it will be helpful for you – I’m all about buying cookbooks that I will ACTUALLY use – rather than buying the ones that will end up collecting sad piles of dust on my shelf.
I also love when cookbooks have fun/different features like menus for different occasions using recipes from the book, or different playlists for dinner parties, or how to put together a good cheese board.
My current cookbook obsession is The Pretty Dish! Seriously – check it out if you haven’t already. Spoiler – it has all those cool features I mentioned above!
And, I did end up getting that Day Designer planner I talked about last time. It’s totally helping me to get more organized and I’m loving it!
Upcoming Recipes
As promised, here’s a sneak peak of some recipes that will be coming to the blog soon!! (Soon = in the next week or two!)
Now that I’ve probably left you incredibly hungry, heh heh oops, I’ll end this post so you can get out and enjoy this WARM day! Happy Spring, friends!
